Definition

 

Add-on:

An add-on is a script or small piece of software that is added to your Internet browser to automate a function.

Example- toolbars for search or your anti-virus are add-on programs or scripts. Some add-on will give you specific information based on the site you are on.

Plug-ins:
Basically the same as a Add-on some people call them plug-ins. They are more commonly called a plugin code for webpages.
